Reflecting on an Exceptional Annual Conference and Looking Ahead
Dear Esteemed Members and Colleagues,
I hope this message finds you well. I am thrilled to share the remarkable success of NAHCR23, which brought together nearly 200 dedicated health care recruiting professionals, along with the support of 50 exhibitors and sponsors. The event proved to be an invaluable platform for fostering growth, learning, and collaboration within our dynamic industry. You can see highlights from the conference here.
Our conference was a true testament to the spirit of unity and shared knowledge that defines our association. We witnessed a diverse gathering of health care recruiters at various stages of their careers, all of whom were keen to explore the cutting-edge developments and insights that will shape the future of our profession.
The event's main stage was graced by influential thought leaders including Anne Bonney, Dr. Caroline Brookfield, Mary Ottman, Maisam Ileiwi, and Megan Odell. Their engaging sessions covered a wide array of topics, ranging from inspirational narratives to in-depth explorations of industry-specific trends. We also delved into crucial legal aspects of the recruitment and hiring process, ensuring that our members are well-equipped to navigate the complex landscape.
A highlight of the conference was the inclusion of a dozen concurrent sessions that tackled various aspects of health care recruitment. These sessions addressed sourcing strategies, recruitment marketing techniques, benchmark data analysis, and even introduced a new leadership track designed specifically for managers and directors, underscoring our commitment to nurturing leadership excellence within our field.
Our networking opportunities facilitated vibrant exchanges of ideas, allowing attendees to gain invaluable insights into how fellow health care talent acquisition professionals have successfully surmounted recruiting challenges. The exhibit hall provided a platform for attendees to connect with vendor experts capable of providing solutions to everyday recruitment hurdles.

During the annual business meeting, NAHCR was honored to announce a groundbreaking partnership with PwC Saratoga. This collaboration empowers NAHCR members with access to a wealth of health care recruiting benchmarks and workforce metrics, including data on talent acquisition, staffing rates, productivity, turnover, DEI initiatives, promotions, and more. The benefits of this partnership are immeasurable and will undoubtedly elevate our members' strategic decision-making.
I want to share some news that signifies a change in our journey. While NAHCR Chapters have been an integral part of our association, evolving circumstances have prompted us to make the difficult decision to discontinue the affiliation program. Although local associations will no longer carry the NAHCR Chapters title after January 1, 2024, we remain dedicated to supporting their growth through individual NAHCR membership discounts and new opportunities for enhanced connection and engagement.
Many thanks to outgoing Directors Heidie Kozarski and Anthony Gentile for their unwavering commitment and contributions, and I extend a warm welcome to the 2023-2024 Board of Directors, a team of passionate individuals poised to lead us into the future: Iqbal Atcha - President-Elect, Angela Ramos - Communications Director, Melissa Wheeler - Education Director, Robin Dremonas - Membership Recruitment Director, Gina Salazar - Membership Engagement Director, Jimmy McCourt - Business Partner at-Large, and Theresa Mazzaro - Immediate Past President.

I also extend a warm welcome to newly-appointed Marketing/Outreach Director Bryan Barajas. Bryan is Senior Director of Marketing for PreCheck. He’s been a member of NAHCR for almost 10 years. He’ll be helping NAHCR develop and implement outreach initiatives aimed at growing its audience and membership.
Looking ahead, we are excited to usher in a new era of growth and connection. Stay tuned for announcements about our expanded opportunities, including e-lists, online communities, and virtual events, all designed to facilitate deeper engagement and collaboration among our members.
Thank you for your steadfast support and dedication to advancing the field of health care recruitment. Together, we will continue to shape a brighter future for our profession.
Warm regards,
Terry Bennett President, NAHCR
